I am filled with so much JOY!!!!

Hello everyone

I am a little late on this post but hey in reality it is never too late.  I want to thank everyone that came out to my book signing event....yes all 120 of you. The weather was not at all our friend that night, but you all came to support ME.  The winds were treacherous, the rain was pouring down and power was even out in some areas.  It brought so much joy to me as I looked into the crowd and saw all the people that are important to me.  I was also happy to see lots of people I did not know and met for the first time!  And to think I was worried that no one would show up because of the weather.  I remember arriving to the venue and praying to GOD that he would let the event be successful.  I almost shed some tears as the few minutes before start time arose, and barely anyone was there.  Yes your sensitive girl......almost messed up her bomb.com makeup and yes almost messed up that pretty white dress that I had on.

One of my sorority sisters calmed me down and said, just wait and you will see what is in store.  She was right because in the next few minutes the venue was full and the event began.  Let me give just a little recap and some things you didn't know, lol some bloopers. I was so worried about this white dress that I had on that I bought another back up dress just in case something happened to it.  I even told my children that once mommy had on her dress she was off limits and could not be touched.  You should have seen their faces especially my 2 and 1/2 year old.

The event was set up so nicely, the food was delicious, cupcakes were on point and Maxwell the Violinist was the entertainment for the night. Everyone mixed and mingled and of course had an amazing time.  My MC did a great job, my greeters and volunteers were amazing and Walnut Hills High School was wonderful for hosting the event.  I had a young lady from an adoption agency called Necco who talked about the benefits of adoption and passed out information for National Adoption Month- November.  I was excited to come forward and read a little of the book to share with the crowd and do a Q/A session.  I think the hit of the night was dessert and a huge thank you to Wyoming Pastry because not only could you purchase the book to read that night but thanks to them you could eat it too.

Thank you family, friends, sorority sisters, and my husband for helping to make the night a success. It was one of the best nights ever! Now I can add author to my resume and be proud to share with all "Unwavering Perseverance".

Amazing when you know that you can say.......I can do it

Good morning!!!!

I am so happy that at times you can realize the smallest things that can end up helping you with your day.  I spent the night reviewing over my speech with a friend.  She not only gave me great constructive criticism but she allowed my words to serve as a form of encouragement for her. You see sometimes we know what we want to do, and we have a plan but we just don't put it forward. I woke up this morning realizing wow I helped her to realize something that she already knew but just needed to hear it again up close and personal.  I challenge you all today to make a difference, put a smile on someone's face, help a child or an adult and remember that it's the little things that can make a person's day.  Have an awesome Friday.  Stay tuned for more....

I'm on a roll,

The Teacher

Hey everybody......I hope all is well. It's that time of the month.....a blog update. I know some of you have been wondering what I have been doing, you know since I am no longer a track star lol. But no seriously I have so many people ask me about my life now as a teacher. I think I am finally ready to spill the beans as some would say. In this sense I am spilling the beans of my adjustment and honestly I can say I am happy with the choice I made. School is in session and it has me meeting deadlines, writing lesson plans and of course instructing!  I take my job seriously and what better than to help educate our children of today.

When I decided to retire from the sport of track and field, not only did I give up traveling to all parts of the world but also the fame/athletic lifestyle.   It was nice to hop on planes and travel to Paris, Greece, Bahamas, Russia and a host of other places.  I don't miss the sweat, the tears and the workouts.

Now as a teacher I love what I do! It is hard and difficult at times, but I was born with a never give up attitude.   I am often stressed but it is because I want to give my all. I give my students the advice to never give up. I want them to not only learn from me, but be able to say they had an awesome time in my class.  Not everyone can be a teacher and it takes a special person. I care, love and have patience for my students. I am hard on them and I want them to succeed. So at the end of the day when I get into bed I can sigh and say again, I am in the right field.

For the most part I love love my job 😎  and that is what is important. Who was or is your favorite teacher and why?  I am doing a give away to the 25th person to respond. I have 25 kids in my class!  Can't wait to read your responses!

Amazing Time to be in China

Hey everyone

It'syour girl MW better known as Mary Wineberg. So I am here in Beijing,China and slightly feeling myself (I'm feeling myself). Lol it's a song for those of you who don't know. But no really I am honored to be here with such an awesome amount of talented athletes and coaching staff. I am serving as the athlete liaison and it has been nice being able to serve the athletes, contribute to their medal celebration and serve as a listening ear.

I love being back to where it happened for me. My first Olympic Gold and the opportunity for me to prove so many people wrong. It was a chance for me to believe in myself and encourage growth. It was a time in which I knew I could do it. It was a dream come true. I could not have done it without my 4x4 teammates. I challenge the athletes who are competing to strive for greatness. Go out there and leave nothing behind. Be supportive of yourself, goals and know that when things get rough as they sometimes do.....never QUIT.

So so stay tuned for more chronicles of Mary....😘

Who Runs the World-Girls

Hey everyone

Whew...time does fly by when you're having fun. I should have written this a month ago but guess what ....stuff happens. So thanks again for being supporters of the brand. MaryWineberg.com followers-thank you!

Last month I had the pleasure of not only serving as a role model for about 1500 girls, but I got to see several reach their dreams. Yes some completed their first ever 5k, while others were veterans. The smiles on each girls' face, the crowd and the energy just made this Girls on the Run Cincinnati such an awesome event!  I loved it!!!!!

Imagine the scene-pink, green, purple, face painting, tiaras, loud music, the UC Women's Track team, tutus, dancing and of course the gold medal!  If you have not yet participated in this event in your city, I challenge you to do so!  Each girl that I met was so thankful to have the opportunity to hear my encouraging words.  I enjoyed getting the chance to meet so many individuals and put smiles on their faces. Check out the site for more information and if you want to donate....check them out. So many girls are given the opportunity to succeed.

I would also like to shout out my teaching partner and other staff members from Rees E Price Academy, who not only took 12 weeks and prepared a group of girls to be at their best. These girls learned valuable components and in the end had a great time at the race. This goes to show that having this type of program in the schools is perfect! It teaches that girls can respect themselves, learn to work as a team and be comfortable in their own skin. Girls- we run the World.
