“Never underestimate the power of dreams and the influence of the human spirit. We are all the same in this notion: The potential for greatness lives within each of us.”

Wilma Rudolph

Mary always loved to run but she never thought it would be one of her careers.  Born in Brooklyn, New York later moving to Cincinnati, Ohio, she adjusted to the location change. Mary attended Walnut Hills High School, then the University of Cincinnati and later attained her Master’s degree from Mount Saint Joseph University in education.  She was an educator for over 11 years, captivating her students and allowing them to soar to great heights.
Her amazing story is one of sacrifice, determination, and passion in which Mary overcame astronomical odds and monumental challenges to win Olympic Gold.  She made history becoming University of Cincinnati’s first African American female to win “gold” in the USA 4x400 meter relay in the 2008 Beijing Olympics and being given a “Mary Wineberg Day’” by the City of Cincinnati. Mary knows what it means to never give up. She recently wrote a book titled Unwavering Perseverance An Olympic Gold Medalist Finds Peace and a children’s book I Didn’t Win.  She has won various awards for her talents. She resides in Cincinnati, Ohio with her husband and two daughters.

Never Give up,

MW
